Advice on Loan/Grant for married students

I am going into my 2nd year at uni, and I'm still living with my parents. This year I am going to get £1300 as a loan. My fiancee is also living at home, starting a 3 year nursing course in January. It seems that she will get a £6000 bursary just for doing nursing.
We are getting married 2 years from today and are going to be moving into a flat together. For many reasons, we want to stay in our home town (mainly church and family), so will take the train/bus every day, to different universities. At the moment, average rent for a furnished 1-2 bed flat is about £360-£400. Obviously, we won't be able to afford this unless the amount of support we receive increases quite a lot.
Is anyone else in this situation? What kind of ballpark figure would we each expect to recieve as a loan/grant? Also, is there any other support available specifically for married students? We will both be aged 20.
I know this seems a long way off, but I would like to know what to expect.
Thanks
Colin C

If you're getting married in 2 years and you're about to start your second year, surely you'll have finished university a couple of months before you get married? Have I missed something? I would've thought that a half share of a flat costing £360/£400 pm was considerably less than the average student pays for accommodation so difficult to see why you're concerned. Also why do you get such a small loan?
Sorry to seem nosy but difficult to answer you without further clarification.0 -
I'm doing a four year course.
I get such a small loan because of my parent's income.

Once you are maried your parents income won't be taken into account and you will be assessed based on your income as a couple. You will just have to show your marriage certificate as evidence for this.
I'm not aware of any additional sources of funding due to being married though. With both of you being students, you should be entitled to the full support available as your income will be low. It would be worth speaking to each of your student unions as different unis can have different additional support and they may have some suggestions for you.0 -

Yes, we live in East Kilbride, just outside Glasgow.

Sorry to have asked all those questions; I didn't see that you were in Scotland. I only really know stuff about the English system so i better leave things to other Scots.0
