I know you've tried everything Sky suggested but you haven't said what they suggested.
Did they suggest changing the fuse in the plug? My daughter's computer stopped working recently and although I felt like it was pointless, I changed the fuse. How happy was I when it sprang back to life!
And by the way, writing in caps is considered shouting, and unnecessary, on messageboards.0 -
Hi it just wont switch on the red light shows all the time but when you try to switch it on nothing happens0

have you turned it off at the mains left it for 3 minutes then turned it back on to see if that works...
Plans for 2009

if you turn it off at the mains plug... leave it 3 minutes... then turn it back on you should here a beep sound when it come's back on if you listen to the box when you turn it back on...
you have to switch it off completely at least once a month so that the hard drive has a chance to recover and cool down...
let me know if this works or not...

If it won't switch on after unplugging at the mains for a few minutes it's likely to be a dead hard drive.
Either get Sky out to replace the box for £65 (or threaten to cancel and they may come out for nothing) or buy a new hard drive and fit it yourself.0 -
i had the same thing with mine it happen every couple of days and i had to do the unplug plug back in wilst holding down the i button. finally i got an engineer round who told me it was a common fault it was to do with the auto switch of energy thing and by turning this off would stop the prob. 3 months on so far so good.0

A good way of findong out if the hard drive is dead, is too try and format it.
1. Disconnect from mains.
2. Press left and right arrow keys on front of receiver (on right of box).
3. Reconnect mains while holding down arrow keys.
4. Keep pressed until green circle leds light.
5. Release left/right buttons.
6. Press select.
7. The green circle led's rotate anticlockwise approx 20 times.
8. Green led go out.
9. If the green play led lights then HHD format is good
10. If red lights the format is not good and hard drive is faulty.
Hope this helps, P.S please be aware any programs stored on the drive will be wiped.

Thomson model? If its not the Hard Drive it will be the power supply. Easy to replace.0
