Please help me choose a washine machine - miele or siemens?

Options
Hello

Im so confused! I think i have read reviews of every washing machine in the world this week! Anyway after finding out that miele and siemens are the best makes we decided to go for one of these. They seem to have the same spec and both come with 5 year cover for labour and parts. So, its just down to build quality and cost.

We can get the siemens for £390 (incl delivery)
http://www.247appliances.co.uk/product.asp?id=2630

Or we can pay £140 more for the Miele (incl the 20% off)
http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/460630/MIELE-PRESTIGE-PLUS-6

I know the miele are the best but are they £140 better for the same type of machine??

I have heard that repair costs are crazy, how do they compair to siemens?

What would you do? Will spending the extra now really save me money in the long run? We do have the money there but there are a whole list of other things it can be spent on!

Help!!

I just laid out £120 to have my washing machine seal replaced by miele. that said the machine is great and has fantastic functionality and is also pretty energy efficient...

If you do go for it don't forget to go through quidco for 3.5% on Comet

    Can only speak from experience.
Yes Miele is initially expensive, but we've had our Miele for fifteen years and have never had to spend a penny on it since.
  • I have all Bosch now - If you actually compare Siemens and Bosch, you will find the vast majority of models are almost identical, but the Bosch are around £100 cheaper. The model numbers are jiggled about a bit - a Bosch KTR18P20 Fridge is basically a Siemens KT18RP20 (or some variant - check the M&S website if you don't believe me). I suspect the actual trim and non mechanical parts are of a slightly higher spec with the Siemens, but the £100 difference helps, as does the cheapest prices and free delivery with Co op Electricals! Think the company name is something like Bosch-Siemens GMbH.

So, whilst I would love to have Miele appliances, I found that they had to be around £200 better to win.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Miele for me, due to family of 8 and burnt out machines every few years we bought Miele washer, dryer and dishwasher 8 years ago.

    Dishwasher ..............no bother
Washer....................1 problem which was fixed under warrenty
Dryer.......................2 problems one under warranty and the other hubby phoned Miele, told them what was wrong, paid for part and they told him how to fix it , no expensive call out.

If anyone of them were to die a death and could not be fixed I would only every replace with Miele again. I used to buy cheap and was replacing every year or two.

oh and just bough a Miele vacum lol :rotfl:
    TOTAL 44 weeks lose. 6st 9.5lb :T
  • Definitley the Miele.
The kitchen dealer I work with, only deals with Miele appliances, as simply put it, they are the best appliances money can buy.

I used to swear by Bosch, but they're quality has gone down hill, and even they're not a patch on a Miele.
  • I would avoid Miele like the plague. Two years ago we splashed out (pardon the pun) on a Miele G1220. A couple of weeks ago our fusebox started tripping out every time we switched the Miele on. Turned out water was leaking inside the dishwasher's door and getting on to electrical components. We've got a 5 year warranty which promises an engineer visit within 3 days of reporting a fault, so we phoned Miele - they couldn't send us an engineer for 4 days. On the day of the appointment the engineer phoned to cancel. He wouldn't be able to get to us for another week. This from a company boasting award-winning customer care. So on both build quality and customer service Miele score a bit fat zero. I get the impression they've made their reputation for quality in both areas but have just taken their foot off the gas - so be warned. You don't always get what you pay for.
