Possible Red Cross scam in South Wales
Is anyone aware of a possible door to door scam around at the moment involving people claiming to represent the Red Cross?
I've just had two blokes knock at the door, one with a Red Cross ID badge and the other with a badge labelled "Observer" who launched in to a speech about the Red Cross, when I mentioned that my housemate worked for the Red Cross (true) they turned on their heels and walked away.
I didn't get the full sell but one had a clipboard so I'm guessing it might be some sort of donation/ direct debit scam. The one doing the talking was African and very heavily accented, the other looked Eastern European/ Slavic.
I'm in Pontypool, so if these guys come knocking be cautious. I'll ask my housemate if he's aware of any activity when he gets in.

I'm not aware of this and not in your area, but I would recommend phoning your local police station. They'll be able to a) check with the Red Cross and b) keep an eye open for them and c) get an alert out to Neighbourhood Watch Coordinators. That's if it's not legit, of course ...Signature removed for peace of mind0
