  • I knew it wouldn't be long before people started coming on here stating 'i love KPJ, they were so nice to me!' Funny enough, it's always with their first ever post!
  • If its your " friend" that worked for the business, why are you so bothered and passionate to even be carrying it on and going on and on about it.

I believe that this is you Ian that worked for Kevin and that you was weak and unable to do the business, which is fine,,,,, but no one can make you do anything you don't want to.
The business is open 6 days a week and there is reason in the world for you work every day if you don't wish too, you could always have extra days off or even just DO THE SALES, which from what i can only presume you were never any good at!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's why you never had any money!!!!
When you start you know that it is all based on commission so no one makes you do it, so you must of thought at one stage that you could do it???

Jealousy is a wicked thing, isn't it, and to say Kevin doesn't do any work i think is completely wrong!!!

You obviously didn't know kevin when he started the business about 3 years ago as a sales man!!!! He put all his time and effort into this business to make it what it is. He entered the management training program at the same level as anyone else would. He is good at all aspects of the business and because of this he hit management!!!! Making a lot of money and enjoying that lifestyle that it brings. He's just came back from America with work too.

That is how he can sit in the office and just interview if he wishes. It is his business to do what he wants with it!!!! but you don't see all the preparation for the training that he does in the morning and in the evening and the meeting and conferences that he attends. To an outsider maybe it does look like he doesn't do much but you will never understand how hard it is to make this business work.

Call the business what you like but no lies have never been told, you are a grown adult and can think for yourself, if you don't wanna do something, well done. Don't be bitter and twisted all your life!!!

Yes you could earn a lot of money doing this, have a nice car, nice house and also lavish life style. Kevin just isn't one of thoughs people who like to brag, just because you don't see it, this means nothing when was the last time you seen his bank balance????

Being self employed has loads of befits, by being your own boss is a major one, Obviously you wouldn't understand that cause your not that quick are you!!!!!

You are only self employed at the sales man level, when you have your business incorporated you become employed cause your the M/D but that's also something that you don't understand too.

As for doing your own tax, how is that hard you can do the idiot gide on line if you wish and the company does have there own accountants which do help all the sales staff to do there return yet another thing you didn't know about, 0h how silly do you sound know.

Talk talk know kevin personally how else would he represent them, so go on speak to them and see that there not bothered!!!! same as Sky and all the other clients that he has worked with, they are the ones that have asked for him!!!!!

As for saying that my statement makes no sense i will simplify it,

I have a family and i understand how important it is to provide for it as does kevin, and that means doing whatever to support it!!!! and this means working very very hard!!!!!

Go back to what ever hole you came from and get a grip!!!!!

we could go on and on all day but i have a life to be getting on with,

    Many thanks

Great post. I remember searching and searching on the internet for KPJ after my first interview because I 'smelt a rat' but I found nothing. It seems now people are becoming more aware and a simple google search brings MSE up. That's great, because most people wouldn't bother going if they knew what the job involved!

I still don't fully understand how these people/companies end up making any money though.

its quite simple, its like using a sledge hammer to crack a nut, if you get enough people to tramp the streets and knock on enough doors you will make sales, regardless of ability, technique, product knowledge. its very similar to the old pyramid schiemes where there was nothing more than a pay to join then recruit others to join and make them pay you to join. but these modern types have a genuinly saleable product available for ongoing sale, their just structured, physicly and commision wise in the same way as a pyramid.

it looks like a payramid con, cos its so hard to make the sales, the recruitment terms are a lie and the rewards for thoes on the bottom, are almost none existant.

it seems their is enough supply of willing people to at least turn up for interview, and the interviews take place on a rolling basis, it costs nothing but a bit of time to be doing these interviews and crappy training sessions. the hard work is done on the street trudging arround for hours.

if some guy has trudged for 10 hours and made 1 sale worth 20 quid and he gets a tenner out of the manager gets a tenner out of it, then if the manager has sent 10 guys out their to trudge the streets, they all make one sale and get ten quid each, but the manager gets 100 quid for sitting on his !!!! interviewing the next lot of hopefulls who will replace all the people who get fed up & see it for the con it is, he might have to send 50 quid of his hundred upstairs to the area manager, who has 10 managers in his area, all giving him 50 quid so he gets 500 quid once you apply the piramid shape you soon see that only thoes at the top are realy making anything close to an amount of money you could live on. the further down you are the less you make and the harder you have to work, its not something you should ever aspire to be apart of unless you like to con people, cos thats all it is a big con.

there is such a supply of people willing to have a go, that it just doesnt matter wether you make a sale, how many you make, how long you need to trudge the streets for, cos it is costing the bosses absolutly nothing. and the rule of averages would say that its inevitable that some sales will be made.

its a case of if you sell, the bosses win, if you dont sell the boss losses nothing, and that is why they will recruit absolutly anyone and everyone regardless of appearence, ability, background, work history or anything else.

oh and my understanding is that the con artist setups are very good at playing down the money aspect and promoting the the idea of prooving your self and being commited as these are the characteristics theyre interested in from their trainee managers.;)

when realy its just a mind game to keep you trudging the streets on the off chance you make a sale or 2 for them before you get fedup and leave. it costs them absolutly nothing to operate like this as your working for your self at your own expence.

to illustrate the chance aspect a bit more

if it would cost you 50k a year to employ a highly skilled experienced professional sales person to sell your product and he needed to sell and achieved 10 sales a day to justify his wage.

then if you can take a random person off the street get them to knock on doors for 10 hours and they will make 1 sale per day.then you only need to find 10 random people willing to have a go and make the one sale each and you have your ten sales for the day. and you would have no need for the professional sales person or any need to pay his 50k wages.

so then you have to look at how long random people will stick with it before they wise up and leave,. so you go on a constant recruitment drive, as people drop out you allways have one lined up to take their place, so you always have ten people out their making 1 sale a day each. then you can up things a bit, send another team of 10 out their, ineffect saving you the wage of another 50k salesman, hopefully doubling your sales. but if it doesnt double your sales it doesnt realy matter, they are still working for free. so at the very worst it would double your chances of making 10 sales a day.

so you now have double the work force attempting to meet the ten sales a day you want, yet they are still costing you absolutly nothing.

no company the world wouldnt employ its sales force on this basis if they thought it would work, but when investment in saleable stock comes into play they cant risk a game of chance, so they employ professional skilled salespeople to shift the stock and pay an apropriate wage for their skill and labour

these marketing companies would have to do the same, they wouldnt leave it to chance if they actualy had money tied up in stock.
  • to be honest if find it quite admirable that this Kevin guy or whoever started all this, has had an idea picked up the ball and run with it, yes the thread on here sours that a bit as their seems to be so many disgruntled and dissatisfied people comenting.

but in esence all he has done is take for example a sky refer a friend for 50 quid offer, and got of his !!!! and knocked on every door in the land by recruiting enough people to make sure ever door in the land got knocked on.

i cant knock the ingenuity vision and balls for having a go to be honest.

Get a grip will you lady_lovely.

Tell your mate to start advertising the job for what it actually is and then I'll stop slagging him off. Most people wouldn't bother applying for the job if they knew what it actually entailed, and they therefore wouldn't waste time going to two interviews before they are aware they will be traipsing around the streets all day. Don't advertise it as a graduate scheme and tell someone they will be based in one of 15 new offices around the city - tell them the truth from the start!

Also stop brainwashing people into believing they can earn 75k within a few months - its never going to happen.

The way the company advertises is the only thing thats ever wound me up - and I told them that when I found out what the job involved. They admitted they do not tell people because it would put them off. Kevin knows exactly what he is doing.
  • lovely lady/dad of 4.... the point is not what Kevin does.... everyone can make a living.... it's simply the way he does it and as wildt says, you are lied to from the minute you read the advertisement.

Despite what jessica thinks, I have never worked there, but i have known a few people over the years that have heard about great graduate schemes/ marketing executive roles etc around the Old Hall Street area and have been ecstatic when they are given job on the day. They have then been disgusted and quit when they are told out of the blue they will be door to door sales when they turn up the next day.

Further to this, as far as i am aware you are not told of the self employed aspect of the job and are told to work 6 days a week, all hours. While half of the things you have said regarding me are totally unfounded, i know I wouldn't have had a clue about tax returns etc at 18. Also, the only reason self employment is used is to avoid paying the minimum wage and to allow workers to work over the legal number of hours. These things are legal for a reason! Working 60 hours a week is not good for you! Earning less than minimum wage makes it hard to survive! The point of this article has never been how clever or how much money Kevin makes, it’s the effect his actions are having on others…. And before you say it, its not always that simple to leave.

Dad of 4, you may admire the 'ingenuity vision and balls' and if the guy simply came interviewed and said... i'm doing this pyramid scheme blah blah blah, then fine! However, imagine if one of you kids got a job here. Spent 12 hours a day round the streets. Got paid less than he spent on travel on some days. Worked 6 days a week. Started having to borrow off you and sell his/her stuff to be able to pay the bills etc, yet he wouldn't quit as he was told every day that in a month of two the money would start rolling in. When you suggested another role would be more suitable to get a steady income it caused a rift between you etc etc. You'd probably say that wouldn't happen to my kids, but i'm sure every parent say’s that

Jess- i don't want to cause an argument. All i'm stating is things aren't as black and white as you think they are. Maybe Kevin is doing well for himself, but you must agree that his staff turnover must be huge and the reason for that is because people don't like what he is doing. He will be having a huge effect on all of their lives (family and friends included) without giving them a second thought.

i fully agree with what you say Ian, my admiration in no way extends to pulling the wool over peoples eyes, affecting peoples lives in a very broad way, and screwing your fellow man over for the sake of a few quid. its certainly not a life i could live. im just not that driven by money.
  • I applied for one of these 'marketing' jobs. All it was selling stuff (imported Chinese tat) to people working in offices. I was told to meet back at a certain place at a certain time after lunch. Needless to say, I never went to the certain place at the certain time...

I am suprised that no-one has investigated these awful companies.

  • I had my experience with KPJ early last year. At the time i was working for a restaurant and couldn't stand it so i was lookin for some office work. I got an email to my inbox about an interview and didn't even bother lookin up the company name in google, fool.

The interview seemed to go well and the promises that Kevin fed me made me think the job was the best in the world!!!

Anyway, i got a call that evening to tel me i had got through the first interview and i was asked to return for a shadow run the following day. The receptionist even told me that i had been his favourite candidate so was guaranteed the job. So naive me rung up the restaurant and told them i was quitting, and this was before id had the "taster" day!

Well, u wldnt believe my shock wen it turnd out the "office job" was actuali fcukin door-to-door sales! I was so wound up that Kevin had lied to me, but i'd already quit my other job so now i had basically, with Kevin's help, fcuked myself ova!

I wont go into details bcoz i hav on another thread but becoz of the high unemployement levels and my age i couldnt get another job, so had to stay wiv KPJ for 3 months, until id finally had enough and left.

    Now Jess, onto ur comments:

I find it amusing how u think that the people on these forums are slating Kevin becoz they're lives are meaningless. If u read a little more u wld find they do it becoz he has basically fcuked the lot of them ova, makin them work lik dogs and paying them sweet fcuk all. U say its becoz they couldnt do the job, bt tel me...wld u want to work 70 hours a week earning about the same as imigrant workers who make Primark's clothes?

If u r a friend of Kevin's i reali wldnt challenge some of the people on here to say this stuff to his face. I think most of them would probably rise to the challenge. I'v refrained myself bcoz i kno i would end up punching the lying !!!!!! lights out.

Id be shameful to call him a friend, after all he spends day in day out lying to the unemployed and often desperate. Then spends the rest of his time pretending he's loaded. What?!?! earning 100K a year and still living wiv his parents and driving the car that i had when i first passed? Do u reali believe him wen he tells u he bought that house he lives in for his parents?

I wouldnt call a person hu quits this job weak, id call them intelligent and finally aware of the lies they've been told. Can u realli trust a job that wen u are "employed" u are told not to tell ur parents or friends exactly what the job is. Wonder why that is? Prob coz they'd tel u to get ya stupid !!! outa there!!!!

Now this bit i quote from u:
"You obviously didn't know kevin when he started the business about 3 years ago as a sales man!!!! He put all his time and effort into this business to make it what it is. He entered the management training program at the same level as anyone else would. He is good at all aspects of the business and because of this he hit management!!!! Making a lot of money and enjoying that lifestyle that it brings"
for a moment there i thort Kevin had joined the forum. This is exactly what he said in the interview. All those holiday's tho, stil manages to make it to work on Monday morning eh? 2 day holiday's seem hardly worth it.

Now i cant reali be bothered to quote or argue any more of ur points. But i tel u now, Talk Talk might be personal friends with Kevin, but he is that good at lying they probably havnt a fcukin clue how he sells their product. Now i kno ur goin to call me a liar but Im not bothered coz u do nothing but associate urself with one, but my uncle who is one of the highest managers of Sky informed me that they stopped business with Kevin and his likewise companies bcoz of their pushy sales and poor work ethic and way they treat their employees. So its only a matter of time before Talk Talk do.

    Many thanks
Alex (ooo im not nameless either ;) )
