Bad garage repairs

  • I do have friends who are into cars so I am considering asking them for some advice on it (I go to the local VW club with my partner). But I don't know anyone who can weld :(

Well in the back of my mind I have thought that the second garage could be touting for work, but he did offer to show me the weld and put it up on the ramps for me (I declined since I wouldn't know any better!) but will be getting my Dad to look at it when I go visit them next! He said that it was just welded on with dots rather than actually welded on properly all round the edge (i don't even know what the requirement is for welding on patches to chassis!) But I did trust this garage a lot more than the first one, they were really good to me and seemed to be very reasonable. They picked me up from home so I could collect my car and had even washed it for me, so I felt like they were a better garage than the first one, plus I had been recommended them by a friend.
