£2000 for Party Wall Act

Can anyone tell me what is deemed as 'reasonable' costs for party wall awards to be drawn up. Our surveyor (building owner) is around £800 but out adjoining neighbours surveyor is charging us nearly £1200. Neighbour is the NFH and we do not communicate at all as we have had verbal and physical threats from them, so it was never going to be a case of them using our surveyor. Why is adjoining owners surveyor so expensive when our surveyor is the one drawing up the awards etc.
How long should it take for awards to be drawn up? This is seeming to be a rather long process and we are considering whether to delay the 'award' being drawn up until spring as it is only valid for a period of 12 months and winter is rapidly approaching. Surveyors have not had a site meeting as yet and notices were issued mid July. Delays have been caused due to Ao's surveyor having holiday etc. We are getting to the point whereby unless we have a date sorted imminently we won't be able to get our brickie etc.

What is the hourly rate for both surveyors - they vary. Your surveyor could be charging £ x per hour and AO surveyor could be charging £ y per hour which would explain the difference. Have you asked your surveyor his opinion of the AO's surveyor's fees?0
