Going back to Uni Printer Sales, whens the best time to buy?

On the Which consumer site it said that the best time to buy a printer is between August and September because of sales aimed at university students.
Now I'm looking to buy a Canon Pixma mp600r and am wondering whether to buy it now or hold tight for another month.
Anyone know when these price drops are most likely to happen?
Thanks very much

Just wanted to bump this as it has been moved from consumables (thank you :T) but landed on page 3 in here.
So the best time to take advantage of the pre back to Uni sales for printers, anyone know?:D*Make every day Caturday*0 -
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/148076 is the only printer you will need for Uni. The price on ebuyer for these model of printers has remained the same more or less as it's already such a bargain. Don't get an inkjet - you will spend a bomb! If you want to do professional photo printing, get both.
Theres this crazy cheap colour laser from dabs too: http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=4SNV&CategorySelectedId=11113&PageMode=1&NavigationKey=11113,428000000 -
Would an all in one thingy (printer scanner, photocopier) be better?0

I mentioned the second one because it's colour, didn't realise it's multi functions. I would just get the black and white laser. It's what most of your printing will be for Uni. If you want to print the *very* occasional thing in colour, borrow a mates printer or do it at Uni.

It can actually work out cheaper to print everything off through the uni via intranet. The cost of printer ink and paper, never mind the initial cost of the printer mean that the charges the uni make per page could be cheaper.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I have the Samsung B&W Laser Printer, and its fantastic. The toner-save function saves some ink but your work is still legible!
Uni charges us 5p per black and white page, but I don't know if it works out cheaper or not. The initial cartridge comes with the printer and should last for 1000 prints. Replacements last for 3000 prints atleast (without toner-save, I am led to believe). But, it is insanely cheaper to refill old laser cartridges and I don't know how many prints they last for.
It is an interesting discussion to be had

An all in one could save the student money though-ie scanning a few pages needed from a book rather than buying it. When I was at poly I hate people seeing me do this in the library even though I was copying far fewer than the limit allowed per book and would have loved to be able to do it back at my room!Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0

Well, 1000 prints at Uni would cost £50. That's more than the printer! A official toner of 1500 pages I found for £37. That's 2.4p a page and I'm sure you can buy cheaper toner . With the convenience of owning your own printer I think the £44.95 is well justified!I have the Samsung B&W Laser Printer, and its fantastic. I really appreciate all the responses, but dudes and dudettes without meaning to be churlish .....um ... I did say in my first post exactly which model (after extensive research:whistle:) that I intend to get.

I need to know whether to buy it now (currently the lowest price is @136 with p&p)
Or if I should wait. Do the prices on student stuff get lower in September? Or am I in danger of ending up paying more?
Thanking you muchly. :T*Make every day Caturday*0 -
I understand you like that printer, I'm sure you've done some research. I was just saying that if you want it for mono printing it could work out very expensive.
As with most electronics, it will likely to get cheaper, so don't buy it now if you don't need it, leave it to the last minute0
