Conservatory roof vents

We are just about to commission a conservatory but have had conflicting advice about if to have roof vents put in or not.

It is a uPVC conservatory with Celsius glass roof, (to reduce heat/retain heat/cut down glare etc.) It faces East so does not get much sun, we are having about 8 top opening windows and French doors. My parents have a similar conservatory and say that roof vents are vital. The conservatory salesman doesn't like them - says if you get a leaf in them it can leak, spoils look of roof etc.

I would be very interested to know any conservatory owners/installers opinions please as the chap is coming tonight to measure up!!

Many thanks

I suspect that most advice given by sales men is for their benefit and not yours. Anyway, I would recommend getting a roof vent fitted. The heat build up can be very severe. What does it matter if the looks are slightly altered, you did not buy it to look at, you bought it to use.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
  • Roof vents are the most effective way of keeping your conservatory from overheating. Facing East it will get plenty of sun in the mornings during the Summer.
