Help - Dispute with Powergen over incorrect meter readings

That is a VERY good idea !!
The more bad publicity they get the more likely they are to act in your favour.0 -
I have a long running gas thread – High Gas Usage? – and my biggest headache was that I only had my start and current readings to work with as all my bills were estimated for the interim 18 months. Siemens had visited every few months and taken gas readings, but stated they have no record of my address on their system. I actually logged onto the Powergen website as this was the only way to send them an email and now, as a result of your post, have just copied all the rejected Siemens readings.
It is somewhat ironic that I finally got through to a helpful Powergen customer service bod this morning and he provided the last three “rejected” readings provided by Siemens. Now I have them all and apart from one obvious reading error I can hopefully may significant progress.
Best I finish reading this new thread just in case my experience can help!I came, I saw, I did a little browsing.0 -
AMH82 – To log on to Powergen website you only need your bill, for reference numbers, and a username and password. They send a confirmation email with an access code and you’re in!
Unfortunately the username: "powergenarecrap" is already taken!!I came, I saw, I did a little browsing.0 -
Thanks again, I will create an account. Paul, the meter numbers ARE different, and I have highlighted this in my email. Hopefully they will respond quickly.0

Logged in, and there they all are!!! I can see what has happened, the muppet who reads my meter has got my low & normal rates the wrong way around.
Today I read the meter at 7399 LOW & 29118 NORM. Ont he 14th Sep 05 the meter man said NORMAL = 7264 & LOW = 28624. These are the wrong way around!! I thought the writing next to the meter numbers would have given this away!! Anyway, as the low reading is higher than normal this gets accepted, as the normal one is too low it gets rejected and estimated at 60,000 odd. Serial number is wrong also.
Once I get a reply I can now explain more on what has happened.0 -

Your problem does sound uncannily similar to the one I had...
Trouble with Powergen's system seems to be that is the readings are not what is expected, then they are rejected and the system then makes it up as it goes along, to try to make it fit. On top of that, the telephone CS is absolutely appalling.
Sounds like you're well on the way to sorting this out, I'm glad to be of help - and to you too njm.0
