Help Needed! Ebay Germany

Help!

I've made a bit of a mistake......while trying to find the cheapest place to buy a watch I bought one from ebay.de. Problem is that I used google translator and found the details of paypal on the listing page, only now I have the invoice it's clear that the seller doesn't accept paypal and in fact offers money transfer or cash on delivery (don't know how that would work?). I'm not sure what to do with regards to this. I'm worried about the implications and cost of sending money by bank transfer. If anyone could let me know their experiences of buying from ebay.de i'd be grateful

Please don't be abusive and say this is my own fault, because I know that.

Bottom line... zero protection, and you will pay fees to make the payment.
Take a look at the seller's record, and judge for yourself whether you want to ask him nicely to allow you to cancel.

Hi there i did a similar sort of thing a few months ago, I looked into doing a money transfer through my bank but was expensive, in the end i ended up using a very reliable company called Auctionchex ( I think???), will look at my favourites when i get home and repost. As the last reply said, you don't have any protection but the Germans tend not to use paypal. If you type the problem into the forums at Ebay you will probably get the same sort of answer. Hope this helps.

I know auctionchex is a non-accepted method here and on German ebay so i'm not sure where I would stand using that.

The owner of auctionchex is a regular poster on the ebay boards, but you're right,
it does appear on the banned payments list

Hi there I know that they are on the banned list for ebay payments, but your only other option is to arrange a bank transfer through your bank, costing somewhere in the region of £25 upwards. If I remember rightly Auctionchex charged me about £4, and arranged the bank transfer from their account in Belgium? (Bank transfers free in Europe, apart from here). Took about 2 days and every question I asked of their customer services was answered almost immediately.

I'm looking into using Auctionchex now, did the seller mention that he accepted payment by this method or did you just go ahead and do it this way without asking?

No the seller made no mention of Auctionchex at all, I did this method as they just act as middle men, doing cheaper bank transfers.

Thanks for your help guys but i've used my current account with HSBC, which has cost me £9. The exchange rates on auctionchex actually meant I was paying more by going through them! :)

Bank transfer is used all the time in Germany, as is Cash on delivery. Lived there for a few years and all bills were paid by transfer - never even owned a cheque book!
