can anyone help us

Moved into a property in may with a friend and his flatmate as we had to leave our appartment, so moved to loughborough and paid two months rent to help these two people out as they were behind on rent etc .

All sorted !

then at the begining of june my friend housemate informed us he was leaveing as he coulndt afford to pay rent , So we came to an agreement that as the contract was a joint tenancy then we would continue to pay and the three of us would pay more to stay in the property.

we have just recieved a letter of the landlord to inform us that this person has given official notice and thus we now will be evicted on the 19th septemeber.

We would like to stay but because this person was lead tenant (under new scheme and deposit security) then we would need to find £1300 to be paid before this date in-order to stay.

We have further been told that we would need to have someone earning £18000 a year plus in order for them to even consider us 3 remaining for a new contract.

Problem 1, I am on incapacity benefit (pending payment) my partner is still looking for work and seems to be struggling as is getting interviews bit then hearing nothing.
Problem 2 the other person in household is on dla and whilst work is only allowed to work p/time (as demanded by doctor) and he has his partner who is 17 -also unable to find a job and not in recipt of any benefit etc as govtment dont psy under 18s jsa .

Problem 3 . been to council to see about council property etc and been told there is a 12 week wait and we would have to meet their points criteria and they would split us all up .,and assess us as individual people rather than couples . we have to go to the pvt housing authority and then go back to council who will assess each one of us .

the problem with this is that i would not be happy not being able to be housed with my partner.and need my partner for day to day care as well

we are trying to raise £1300 pound through selling things etc but we have been really dropped in it as this person who left has not paid any money towards may, june, july, or august rent and thus the money me and my partner had saved for a deposit had to be used to pay the rent for everyone etc .

so come 19th septemeber we are homeless with no ability to get anywhere else if we cannot raise the money .

My partner has an interview today but even if he gets the job he will not get paid till end of september.

anyone got any suggestions of how we can not be homless on 19th september

oh yes tried for loan been declined except for one company who want £59 pounds upfront and then they will see if im elligble for a loan .
i cannot afford to lose £59

    Rent deposit guarantee schemes

Some local authorities, housing associations and charities offer loans to pay a deposit of a month’s rent on a private flat. Usually, the money is lent in advance and is then repaid by the tenant, possibly through Housing Benefit. Other schemes guarantee that any outstanding rent will be paid to the landlord if required, but no money is exchanged. Most schemes guarantee to pay for any damage to the accommodation at the end of the tenancy.

You can get details of rent deposit and guarantee schemes around the UK from the Crisis Smartmove website at www.crisis.org.uk/nrdf/index.php.

i have never heard of anyone asking for a fee to see if you qualify for a loan before - i would steer clear of that, sounds like a con to me.
A good idea would be to check your credit history score with experian - you can get a free 30 day trial (remember to cancel before the end otherwise you will get charged monthly) and you pay around £5 to see your actual score. But if there is any bad credit against you you can find out what it is and why you have been refused for a loan.
You sound very young - or at least one of you is. If you do become homeless check to see where your local YMCA is - I have had family members (including girls) who have stayed there temporarily whilst they get themselves sorted out, might be worth a try.
If not is there any family members or friends you could possibly stay with as a last resort?
  • Hi,

Do not give your £59 to these scam merchants:mad: . Go onto the Loans Forum and you will see how many of these scam merchants there are hiding under stones. I am sorry I have no advice to give regarding help with your housing but good luck with your search for help.

how about just renting a room? depends how you feel about sharing facilities with other people but you often see adds in local papers. Also have you looked to see if there are any hostels in Loughborough?

Get to the CAB or ring shelter.

The council may well have an obligation to house you - but not necessarily together. But advice will tell you how to deal with these demands for deposit money etc.
