Public transport discounts for students?

Hi all - just after some advice please.

I am trying to work out some public transport from a local town to the university in Lincoln and i am struggling as the prices are ridiculous.

Does anyone know if there are discounts available for uni students? i have tried entering the 16-25 railcard and it still is ridiculously expensive. Someone suggested getting in contact with the university to see if they could arrange a pass with the public transport company for some form of discount.

Any help would be fantastic as i cant really afford to go in the car with petrol and the prices are ridiculous from what i have seen.

Thanks all.

16-25 railcard is the only one that is nationwide. Everything else will depend on your local area so you are best off asking your university.

Some routes have 16-25 card time restrictions on them. All have a minimum tariff (£8 single, £16 return) for discount to kick in before 10am... Is the discount you're seeing affected by this?

  • it might be worth contacting your local tranport provider. i live in merseyside and merseyrail have term time passes for various prices, depending upon the zone your travelling to.

it's worth checking if it's worth it tho... i only go in 3 days a week so my pass is just about worth it as it's £20 cheaper for the term!

    good luck!
