Good things from Aldi..
Fruit juices, especially the orange juice not from concentrate. Salted nuts,
jams, honey, stem ginger biscuits, continental chocolate biscuits, tinned toms, tinned peaches, olive oil, cornish ham, bottled feta cheese in oil, tomato puree, bacon, probiotic yoghourt, dried fruit, South African chenin blanc white, bordeaux red, sparking mineral water 18p for 2 litres. Dried pasta
pesto, fresh parmesan, hold up stockings, kitchen roll, kitchen foil, loo fresh, bin bags, tuna, the cheese straws, flowers if you get there early enough and they haven't all been picked over...
Duffers in my opinion: the whisky, corned beef (had some ground up bone in the tin I tried), the loo fresh which always leaves a trail of blue from it the hand cooked crisps which are quite fatty and are generally quite broken up, I try things once then make a judgement as to whether they go on my regular shopping list. I go to Aldi once a month and stock up, it makes a huge difference to your shopping spend...0 -

Plain and self raising flour 27p per bag
This is the same price as the economy brands in other supermarkets. As I bought some flour in Aldi for 27p and thought what a good bargain. Went around to sainsburys as there was a few things I could not get and the economy stuff was 27p as well.
Not sure if it is any better or worse than the economy ones.

Never Shopped at Netto or Lidle.
I go to Aldi once a month.
Go for:
Orange Squash, it is so cheap yet tastes great.
Fruit juices, especially sugar free cranberry
Beans, They've always been the but of jokes but I prefer them to any make some Heinz people might not like them but try them once for the price.
Yoghurts
Bread
Olive Oil
Raviolli, tinned all day breakfast, other tinned pasta.
Ice cream, I heartly recomment the chocolate chip and the caramel.
Fish the breaded fish is so meaty, also the the salmon is really reasonable and prawn en cruite is good
Beer - stubbies are good
Wine
Spirits
Pasta/Curry sauces
They often have good offers on electrical / household goods which change week on week.
Boxes of chocolates
Crisps are ok
Don't go for:
Tinned mushrooms they taste funny.
Some of their cereals aren't great if you like the brand names.
Table Sauces aren't great again if you like the brand names
Most are open on a Sunday but all the fresh stuff will be gone by then
Remember to bring some carrier bags as they do charge for them
The check out staff are so quick scanning you have to really plan how you lay the stuff out on the conveyor. Remember there wont be a "Do you want some help with your packing" They accept Maestro and give cashback.
I couldn't go their every week because I like my brands and not always the choice of fresh fruit and vegitables I would like but the monthly visit rarely disappoints and I get so much more for my money than the big supermarkets0 -
Just a thought .. you either like it or hate it ( I love it!) Aldi sell Marmite
i.e. the real thing..0 -
Lidl -
What to buy:
Prosciutto 100 gr for £1.29 -In Tesco it's £2.99 for 85 gr!
Prosecco sparkling wine - as good as £6.00+ in Tesco
Gelati Icecream -The fruit variety is nearly always sold out as soon as it's delivered but the Tiramisu flavour is excellent too!
Parkside Fruit Crisp Biscuits 29p - A friend of mine used to work for McVities and he says they come off the same production line - just have different labels0 -
For anyone how is a Coeliac Aldi have some Delicous Gluten Free Rolls £1.49 for a Pack of 4 Not bad for GF. They also sell GF loaves as well, these are nice, but rather crumbly, not quite as rolls.0

Lidl's: choc au pain (10 for about 99p), chocolate spread (enormous jar really cheap), waffles, fruit juice (good value, big size and the top doesn't drip when you pour it out), salami (chilled or ambient), chilled pizza (my children's favourite place to buy it from), and potato salad (the absolute best!).
Will try Farm Foods - thanks to the OP about them - always looked a bit scarey from outside, and right opposite Sainsburys so have always just gone in there instead, but will try out veggie stuff - thanks.GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -

Lidls. The red italian wine Multipulciano d'abruzzo is equisite at £2 per bottle. I buy it by the case. The Pasta in boxes lasts for years and you can freeze the Parmesan and grate it frozen. Tinned tomatoes are very good. So there is your italian night out for a Fiver.I havent tried the Tiramasu.0

Lidl is great, you need to be a bit of a linguist but they sell the best ice cream in the country - their pannetone is very good - and cheaper this year than last. Fruit juices - cloudy apple, grape, peach nectar -superb.
Olive oil is really cheap - never buy it anywhere else. - and their tomatoes on the vine smell wonderful and taste even better.
Make sure you cook the chicken really well! - but that's the same for everywhere. Sausages are so full of meat they taste different from anyone else's. :T
When you get to the checkout you get everything thrown at you without too much 'customer service' but the savings are such that this is soon forgotten.0
