Tiny ebay images

Options
Some of the listings I put up tonight have tiny images.
Both the thumbnails and what used to be full sized images are showing up only half their normal viewing size.
ebay promised bigger pictures, not that if I used the same photos files they would shrink'em.
What do they expect me to do now, rephotograph the whole lot?

The smaller ones are all shop listings and all in the same category.
Please let it just be another glitch....

  • Are you sure you haven't uploaded small pictures? Open one in Paint and see what size it is.

Big tip, don't use ebay's picture service, just add one image through ebay. The rest host at tinypic and add them directly to the html code of the listings, gives you big pictures for free.

No I haven't used smaller images.
They were basic relists using the same images I used previously.
They're all 400 pixels by 300 or 400 pixels, I edited them that way for use on ebay.
I use GarageSale so can get bigger, extra and/or free images if I need them but only for normal listings. GarageSale doesn't host shop listing images so they have to go via ebay or be self hosted.
As a lot of my listings only use one image (ie a ball of wool) it's easier to use ebay, but that may have to stop.

How tiny are we talking? Bear in mind our max avatar size here is 80x80... 400 doesn't sound all that big.

  • Since I started using ebay 5 years ago, images have always shown up (on my computer and I admit I use a mac) as 400 pixels by 300 or 400 pixels.
So I couldn't see the point of uploading anything larger and I edited all my photos to that size.
They have always shown up the same size as everyone elses, till last night.
It's happened on two listings so far, both knitting patterns.
If you do a shop search, put it in time: newly listed order, you'll find them.
The thumbnails are half the size of all the rest and sort of anchored to a bottom corner, not centralized.
Mine are the only two that look like that.
To me, they stick out like a sore thumb and not for good reasons.

If you go to the listing there's lots of photos, the ones in the body of the listing are self hosted and the same size the ebay hosted photo should be.

I've emailed customer support last night but no reply as yet.
I'm going to list a few more shop items and see what happens.

I'll admit I'm lazy and I don't bother resizing for ebay.
    The photobucket ones resize themselves.
Maybe ebay have changed the way their pics work?

I'll take a look for you if you're willing to PM me an item no, can't promise an explanation, but I could try... :)
