should i pay for the price freeze on british gas?

Hi Magoogy, I am also with B.G for gas and electricity. My thoughts are that these large utility companies never do anything in favour of the consumer as their profits are almost certainly put first.I think the price of gas will come down and because this is a price "freeze" the customer who is tied up in this will not benefit from the price reduction. I am not tying myself into this as I don't have any loyalty to B.G whatsoever. Take care Al0

I have both gas and electricity with BG and after the initial confirmation of them having fixed my prices, they sent me a further letter stating that if the prices dropped, then so would the price I pay. I've read so much about this price freeze not being good, that I am wondering if I have missed something.:snow_grin"Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow........":snow_grin0

Personally I won't be "paying" extra or taking "advantage" of ANY price freezes that will tie me in for more than the next couple of years.
I travel to the Netherlands quite a bit, and I hear rummours that Britain will be importing gas to bolster British supplies.
I'm assuming this will naturally be alot cheaper to get Britain "hooked" on the cheaper suppled gas. Gas prices will probably decrease across the board, and if I'm tied into a contract for a fixed price for 7 years I won't be able to take advantage of it. I'm trying to find supporting evidence of this on the Internet, but it all seems a bit to coincedental that all of a sudden companies are in a rush to promote "Price Freezing".0 -
Hi all. Newbie poster.
On the subject of gas imports we will be recieving gas from Norway by next October and will become a net importer of gas for 1st time since north sea gas was found.
I too was tempted by BG`s offer with the rumours of continued price hikes but remember our gas market is deregulated and is dictated by simple supply and demand economics.
Last year our supply nearly ran out in the winter. This year it could well do with it forecast to be colder than average, whilst the last decade has been above average. This is why they are talking of power cuts as the biggest users (next to leaks) are power stations.
I`m hoping that with the arrival of Norweigan gas next year the prices stabalise and start to fall off.0
