USB tv card for laptop?

I've got a Pinnacle TV card in my desktop pc, I've just bought my Dad a laptop (and if this is a stupid question you can all hit me) is there anyway he can watch the tv channles on his laptop or do I need to buy him his own usb tv card and if so can anyone recommend a good one? Thanks

If it's just the basic freeview channels why not try Zattoo since it's free, legal and good quality.

You don't say whether your Dad lives in the same house or perhaps a different country!

If he's in the same house and you have a network then there are a couple of free software PVRs that support a central backend with one or more TV capture devices, and one or more "frontends" which can play live TV or recordings over the network without their own TV card.

I'm using the excellent MythTV, but that probably won't suit you, as it's Linux-based. GB-PVR is Windows-based, free, and supports remote "PC clients". I've never tried it, but it generally seems to be very highly regarded.
