Anyone know of a good FREE editing software packages better than paint to use with my website?

If it's just photos you want to edit you can use picnik.com which is fab.

You can crop and add text with picnik, but it won't do anything fancy like animations.

and
Photoshop Express - free from Adobe to use online

Didn't you get any software with your camera?

We've got the (sometimes a bit fiddly) Canon system, which is fine for most things!

Anything is better than Windows Paint. It's like comparing a Lada with a Ferrari!

Paint.Net is excellent and free.

Photoshop is the Rolls Royce of imaging software, the free online version "Express" offers quite a few features, but if you want more power you'll need to purchase a commercial version of Photoshop (Elements is great for the home user, and fairly cheap).

Both the GIMP and Paint.Net are excellent free alternatives. You could also try Picasa from Google.
