We have paid for a hire car in the US through a UK agent company. No problems with the car and the transaction.
On returning home the agent company have taken 2 debits of the same amount, (£230), out of our Halifax account. Only one of these withdrawals is authorised. The company are failing to respond after 5 weeks now and the Halifax state they are powerless to act!?
can anyone advise please?
Thanks in advance.

Have you cancelled your card and got a new one to stop any further withdrawals? Something similar happened to me, only for £9.99, Halifax sent me out a letter to sign to say it wasn't authorised, I signed it, sent it back but then they refused to refund! As it was £9.99 I didn't push it but they cancelled my card and sent a new one to prevent any further withdrawals.0 -
No its nothing to do with the card. the issue is that the company have taken 2 payments instead of one. we expected them to return th money back to the account, however they are not responding to emails. the Halifax as stated are failing to assist us recoup it.

The problem is there are no phone number contacts. they do respond to our emails by stating they will sort out but it isn't happenning! and its getting long in the tooth. we are annoyed at both the company and Halifax for not retrieving the withdrawal which wasn't authorised, but the HALIFAX say they can't do anything.
