Making a larger purchase than my limit - Amex

Thanks for the replies everyone. I've literally just had the card through, wouldn't they be unlikely to give me a limit increase so soon?
They did for me.
I got a 4k limit and when I spoke to them they asked if that was enough. I said I could do with some more due to a holiday and they gave me another £800 limit.
I don't know how their system works but I still think its worth a call."Brevity is the soul of wit and it is also the essence of effective communication" Rush Limbaugh.0 -

If your payments are not spread across two statement periods then you'll miss out on 5% of £900...that's £45 cashback lost!0 -

Ah, OK. I had assumed that the additional £900 would get cashback at the standard 0.5/1/1.5% rate. Didn't read it properly.
I might as well split it and pay £3900 on my Amex card and the rest on my Egg money card. I'm sure I'll spend another £100 on the Amex card in the next 3 months and this way I'll get £195 cashback from Amex and £9 from Egg. Not bad for money I was going to spend anyway! I've checked with the Hotel now and they're fine with this.
Thanks again for the help everyone :beer:Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0
