Anyone else have a Tesco Finance card and pay it via bank transfer from their HSBC account?

I just went in to set up a new payment for my card, clicked on "Setup new Payee" went down HSBC's list which had both normal and platinum on there and started to type in the payment reference. This is where i hit a wall.

The statement tells me to enter "card number (16 digits) and sort code (6 digits) as the payment reference" - however the reference field will only allow less then 20 characters.

Any ideas?

Do a search for Tesco card - I've come across something about this on here before but cant remember where. Its definitely been covered though.

I pay my Tesco CC from Halifax and I set up the bill payment manually. I entered the sort-code as the sort-code, acount number as 00000000 and reference as my 16-digit card number.

I think i have sorted it now.

It's basically what's technically called "fudging it a bit"

The standatd HSBC "make a payment" feature has a great big list of payees from AMEX to ZooDoo and you choose which one you want to pay and it has all the details pre-set up and you can't edit them.

BUT...

If you choose "Friends, Family and Other Payments" you get the option to enter in a reference AND account number AND sort code. Which is what i've done. So, we'll soon see if my money goes no-where and Tesco start shouting at me

Might be an idea to pay the min by cheque or at a bank to make sure they get it, as some card providers will withdraw the 0% and charge late fees if you miss a payment :eek:
