'Out of Office' reply in Outlook

Hi folks

Am I able to set up an 'out of office' function on my home PC ?

I know I can do it at work, as I'm on a server there.

Many thanks

Only if you leave your PC on at all times.

Have a look at your ISP's site for web mail and see if you can do it from there.

A word of caution; it confirms that you have a valid email address for the spammers.

The Outlook out of office reply depends on having an exchange server for your mail.
As Johnmc has said, you could probably setup a rule to run but your machine would have to be on and connected to the internet 24/7 for that to work correctly.
And would leave you more exposed to spammers and hacking. (your office would probably have a filter setup so most 'fake' emails are blocked before reaching your email server so your out of office system doesnt end up replying to spam.)

The cropped up a few weeks ago. As others have said, you can only use the Outlook one if you are connected to an Exchange (corporate) e-mail server - which home users don't have.

Most ISPs offer it as a service from their webmail / portal settings but, remember not only does it reply to anyone and everyone who emails you (as per both the above pieces of anti-spam advice), but it also shows you are away, and that can be an invite to a burglar for a home user.

Tell all important people, family and friends you are away, and don't do anything with your mail!
