itunes jumping like a cd????

Options
This bugs the pith out of me! My adele album jumps on my ipod like a scratched cd would in a cd player, and when i play tracks on itunes through the lappy various tracks will jump

Any idea why this happens and how to stop it?

Incase anyone was wondering - no my adele cd is not scratched as i can listen to it fine. Also the other tracks that skip where once fine on itunes so i fail to see why they skip now

Sounds like a dodgy download, maybe wipe that version and try again from the CD?

The tracks 'skipping' on your iPod sound like the track was ripped badly from your original CD. This could be due to your PC not being able to read the CD ok which could be possible even though it plays ok in your cd player. PC CD-ROM's are very sensitive to damaged disks especially when reading them at high speed (your cd player reads at 1x speed where your PC will read at say 48x speed). See if you can change a setting in iTunes to read your CD at a slower speed, say 8x or 16x). The other problem which will explain your tracks skipping on iTunes is that your PC is busy trying to do other things at the same time as ripping or playing your music. This could result in iTunes not getting enough uninterrupted system resources to rip or play your music causing it to 'skip'. Windows is notoriously poor at managing system resources so when you're ripping a CD try not to put it under pressure by doing lots of other things at the same time.
  • i forgot about this thread until today when playing itunes again. The CDs rnt scratched as they where new but the bit that gets me is originally my adele cd played fine on itunes, then it started to "jump", it doesnt do it all the time. it does just appear to be randomised.

How much RAM do you have? Does it skip when you have only iTunes open?

    I'm from Bangor too. :)

1st thing I would do is delete the entire album off the computer. Then sync the ipod, it should then be removed from the iPod. Then re-rip the CD into iTunes and see if the tracks play. If they still skip, iTunes has a setting in Preferences, Advanced, Importing (I think) called something like 'enable error correction' - try ticking that and repeat the delete/rip bit above. If that still doesn't work, see about cleaning the CD drive...
