Goodmans DVD Recorder/Samsung tv problem

Just wondering if anyone out there can suggest what this problem is please....I suspect it is a tuning problem with the SAMSUNG plasma tv.
Basically, after I switch on the Goodmans DVD player to record a programme (ext 2), the TV picture closes down and appears to default to ext 1. This happens after a few minutes.
I have had this set up for a coulpe of years, and the TV/DVD only started behaving this way after I returned from two week holiday a week ago. The units were completely switched off (plugs out) during this time.
Any SAMSUNG tv experts out there????????
