How quick can you divorce ?

Options
Currently out of intrest, but you never know.

Married 13 months.
house, 2 kids, one mine, one not.
Lives in same house for 5 years.

she put in 30k into buy house. I paid all bills for last 3 years (£1200 a month) Split 2 ways before that.

House is on market for 180k, outstanding morgage is 136k

TBH I am not to fused for anything out the house. I paid for the big items, kingsizebed, sofa, expensive dining suite etc. but I do not really care. ditto my plasma TV, computer etc

Would rather do it quick and nice rather than through the courts as its outmoney they take at the end of the day.

No issue with support, but would prefer to keep CSA out of it.

She only works 2 days a week so would claim family tax credit of about 9k a year... ontop of her normal 12k a year wages. (yes we are better of if we split up...)

Divorce is as simple or hard as you BOTH make it.

Totally uncontested can all be completed in 4 months. Unlikely to be any quicker than that.

You can dIY without sols but only the brave would do that. Involve sols and you are looking at £2k for sols x 2 and court fees VAT etc

Something doesn't seem to add up here...

You say it's currently a "matter of interest" but appear (to me) to be sizing up whether or not you'd be financially better off if you did split up... Enquiring about divorce from the point of view of claiming more tax credits perhaps? Hence the "keeping CSA out it" and the "yes WE are better off if we split up".

You may well be better off if you split up, but if you haven't ACTUALLY split up and are just defrauding the system, hopefully someone who realises this will report you. Then we'll see how much better off you are!

Very strange... or should that be suspicious?

If I don't respond to your posts, it's probably because you're on my 'Ignore' list.
  • I have to say that it doesn't sound like out of interest and if you are happy in a relationship why would you even ask that??

I hope to god you other half doesn't read this thinking everything in your relationship is rosy.

Fair enough... but none of that's apparent from the original post here. People aren't mind readers and if someone doesn't post the full story, people will only respond to the information they are given. Which is what I did. It's not a crime! Sometimes I search for a posting history, sometimes I don't, but surely the onus is on the OP to ensure people have the full facts? If he wanted people to know more, he could have linked his original thread...

However, give yourself a gold star for slapping me on the wrist!

  • sorry about not posting fully history.

But if you read my other thread it will fill in alot of the details.

It was more an ironic thing that when a family splits up you get more money, currently I work hard to provide for the family, but if I was to walk out they would be better provided for. I thought the UK was meant to promote family values. It seems to encourage people to not work at things and get a bumper payout for it to fail.

The CSA comment was more to do witht he fact I would pay all the bills and mortgage for the family if it was to happen till the house was sold, but if I had to pay CSA and this, basicly I couldnt. It would be one or the other. and the house is the priorty to both partys.
