Hi
My brother is about to move into a flat that has a BT line, but he wants to go with talk talk. It appears that he has to connect to BT to move to Talk talk, is that right? If that is right, are there any BT plans that dont lock you into a 12 month contract?? Any way to go direct to talk talk?
Cheers

Talk Talk will tell him he has to have a working BT line before he can switch to them. It'll be a lie (like any of the other line providers now in the market, Talk Talk can employ Openreach to connect/reconnect lines), but they'll say it anyway.
Reconnecting with BT will mean a minimum 12 month contract for line rental (BT got fed up with reconnecting people free of charge only for them to jump ship immediately).Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Thanks Heinz! The other option is they go with Sky, but I have no idea about that as I dont use Sky for anything. The main outcome is that they get cheap to free calls (we are all on talk talk so wanted to take advantage of the free calls) and they would also like the broadband free or included in the line rental. Any idea on whats best? They will definitely be joining for Sky + as my SIL just cant live without it lol.0

For either of those options you will still need a BT line.0

Sky are now able to connect Phone Lines.

"1.6 If you have chosen to take Sky Talk Line Rental and you do not have a BT compatible line, we may be able to arrange this for you and you will need to pay Sky a connection fee. We will inform you of our current connection fees at the time you book your installation. Sky Talk Line Rental customers do not need to pay any other provider for line rental."
I have also heard recently that Tiscali who i would personally avoid like the plague are now able to connect new lines.0
