High gloss kitchen worktops?

Hello there!
I'm looking for some help in sourcing some white high gloss kitchen worktops to match the high gloss units i've seen in B&Q and IKEA.
Thanks

    Think again!!

We've the gloss black IKEA units, but opted for the grey Quartz finish from Homebase.

That way you don't over do the shiny appearence, also avoid too many scratches n constant surface cleaning.

  • Hi, Never seen high gloss white worktops before, like vansboy said may over do it. The trouble with the high gloss worktops are they show every mark and scratch - unless you go for granite!

white gloss worktops sound fab, but expensive! We've just bought two kitchens recently for houses we're redeveloping and I haven't seen any that match your description either. We have white gloss cabinets in our house and opted for oak block worktops. They're inexpensive compared to granite or corrian, but still have a quality look. If money was no object, I'd definately have had glass.

Don't go for high gloss work tops - we were warned off them by two retailers who said that even putting plates or cups down on them leave marks. Certainly the ones we saw in showrooms were heavily scratched. They may look good to begin with but it won't last.

go for granite if you shop around you can get a 3m work top for about £300 from ebay, dont pay the highly inflated prices from kitchen fitters we had a big kitchen and got 10m and an island fitted for £1200,including all cutouts these worktops dont scratch
  • I so wanted a ebony gloss worktop but everyone i have spoken to has said that its a bad idea...even MFI! Its not just the scratching it receives from plates but even so much as spilling some sugar and wiping it up is enough to scratch it!

Yes, its true, they look good in the brochure but the reality is somewhat different! Ours looks like an icerink!! :( Hoping to eventually get Granite or Corian worktops - would be interested in any links for cheap suppliers of either of these! :D

As scuder said, you can get granite on ebay. We've just had corian fitted, and I looked everywhere for a cheap supplier and couldn't find one. You can get very similar to corian with products like getacor and mirelle, which work out less expensive, but we wanted a moulded sink.
