No thats my cat just being nosey as took the picture from bedroom window.

There was alot of high winds yesterday and the tile looks worse than it was as i did try and move the tile but it just made it a look worse. As far as i can see there is no damage to the felt so just need (hopefully) need a new tile.

replacing it is dead easy. You just need to carefully lift up the row of tiles behind it, remove the broken pieces & jiggle a new tile in.

Getting a replacement tile might be the hard part. We've loads of spares from when we got Velux windows put in, but I don't know where you could buy just 1. I guessthe yellow pages is the best place to try.
  • As above dead easy, they just hook on to a wooden batten with the weight of the tile above holding them down. Most builders merchants should stock a replacement tile, remove a tile that is still in one piece and take it with you to make sure you get a close colour match.

Forgot to mention, do this on a dry day as the roof might be very slippery when wet.

Try asking neighbours with the same tiles if they happen to have any spares. I scrounged about a dozen off a builder doing a loft conversion down the road who was only going to throw them away. One of our tiles has a corner chipped off and one has been replaced in the past but doesn't colour match too well.

Is that a scratch/scrape on the tile immediately above the broken one? If it is then maybe something has fallen on it or been blown into it. Tiles don't usually just crack without a reason. You don't live near a flight path do you? We've also had seagulls drop large bones on our roof before that i've found blocking the gutters.

The cat looks a bit guilty to me!

They look like Marley Ludlow roof tiles. Lift a tile and on the reverse it will be stampted with the makers name. If not Marley then they could be Redland.
Look in your local phone book for roofing supplies.

    Hi
As plumb1 says a Redland 49 or 50. It will be stamped on the reverse side. The tile might have been nailed (every 3rd course or so.) If it was don't worry about renailing.
