Entitled to Maternity Pay?

Back with a couple more questions now...
She is paid monthly, on the last day of each month. The baby is due on 5th April 2009.
I've plugged the figures into the HMRC calculator and they say the period for calculating average weekly earnings is 1st October to 30th November 2008.
I'm just looking for assurances you think this period sounds right as she can control the amount of work she gets to a certain extent so we want to be sure of the period so she maximises her earnings.
Does the Oct-Nov period sound right? Is it calendar months because she is paid calendar monthly?
