Lived in the US for 3 years, had a card for 15+ years and have never heard it pronounced A-mex, it's always been known as Am-ex since conception.
Am(erican) Ex(press) - Am-Ex
Thank you for your input. Maybe it's only me who call it A-MEX. To be honest, A-MEX or AM-EX, I don't think it matters much as long as the card is usable.

What cards would people reccomend? I was looking at the amex in the cashback cards article, but I'm put off by their reputation for not being accepted as widely as other cards. Do many places still charge you a surcharge for using amex also?
Wont they give you a company card?
Also please be careful spending that much on their behalf - have you thought what would happen if they go bust? I know several people who have ended up out of pocket this way. This can happen to even seemingly large companies - especially in the current climate.

Don't forget if you're booking hotels etc and go through lastminute.com or expedia you can also make money back via quidco
I would recommend Amex but it's also worth having another card as a backup (eg I have the M&S card) for places that do not accept amex...0 -

I would recommend that you avoid putting as much of this on your credit cards as possible. This would include any Corporate Amex cards that you may be able to get via your job. As has been said, you will personally liable for all should the company not or delay payment in any way. How would you find £6k to pay the bill?
I've included Corporate Amex cards (and possibly some other cards issued via your company) as they generally make you personally liable for all spending - even though they are issued via the company. So are not any better than the personal cards in that respect.
Try and get your company to pay for things directly by them booking your accommodation, and paying it directly. I would suggest you restrict any costs to a minimum - that will limit your exposure to any problems. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Hi Ive worked for large companies all over the word which has involved staying away for many weeks at a time, I have never had to use my own cards or money. I have always had a cash advance either paid in cash or into my bank to cover expences and then just hand over the receipts or sometimes the company has used a hotel that they have set and account up at and they just settle the bill when i have left,
Any company worth their salt will NOT expect you to put up this sort of expense, fair enough if ive paid parking at an airport on my card and claimed it back but im talking under 100 pounds not 1000's
Id see the boss and have word, they might even get u a company card
Good luck
ps: Start as you mean to go on but dont rack up a credit card for their benefitDmp Mutual Support thread member No 820
