Another washing machine question

Ive had a SERVIS 1000 EASY WASH for about 9 years and it's been great but it has finally died (actually it was a while ago and my mums been doing my washing for me
she also has a Servis and has had it approx.17 years with no problems ).
I don't have the cash to go out and buy one and can't get credit, I only have a 24Studio catalogue which has limited machines.
I have found these two machines and would like to know what others think as I'm not look at these things and have no one else to ask. Or would anyone recommend any of the other machines in the catalogue?
(Hope the links work) http://homeshopping.24studio.co.uk/homeware/by-room/utility-laundry/1/servism675553largewashingmachine/6

What exactly has happened to the old Servis.
Would you not consider getting it repaired?
9 years is not old for a good machine if it has been looked after. I.E. not used in an outside and damp shed."Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0 -
Have you tried looking online for your local freecycle? You'd be surprised what people will give away. We've just picked up a portable tv from a lovely lady who had replaced it with an LCD. When I was looking, I saw that there were a few washing machines on offer - OK, there were also loads of posts from people asking for laptops, high end electricals and such like, but there's always the chance...I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0

Have you considered second hand?
Our Philips finally died after about 25 years a few months ago.
I bought a virtually brand new Ariston Washer Drier for £120 on Ebay.
Try Ebay, Loot or local papers etc.
The downside is you usually have to collect it and dispose of the old machine yourself.0 -
I've tried freecycle, I've had other things off there but no luck with a washing machine. I've not had any luck with ebay either, nothing ever close enough and the last electrical thing I brought off there was a second hand tumble dyer that died after the second use so I'm wary about second hand.
There was a build up of things going wrong with the machine. First it started bouncing about and was starting to get noisier. Occasionally some of our clothes would get holes in them, but I thought I could have been over filling it. Then the last thing was after I had my new kitchen fitted (I'm housing association) they plumbed it back in and when I went to use it it tripped out all the electrics. I tried it several times but it still did it. I managed to get my washing out of it and it's still sitting in my kitchen with water in it. I don't know what to do with it and didn't think it was worth repairing.0 -
If you loaded it correctly then the jumping about could be down to a number of things Ie. a broken suspension leg or fixing.
If left this will cause the bearings to fail and get noisier and if shakig about too much coud break circuit boards Etc thereby causing complete failure.
Sounds like a call to the scrap metal man (Who will be glad to take it for free) and put out a wanted on Freecycle.
With freecycle you need to be patient. Write NICE replies & requests explaining why you want said item and how you will collect immediately at ANY time to suit THEM and you are more likely to get a positive response.
I once ended up with a Deep Fat Fryer (Mine was SOooo old) and the lady had used it TWICE and decided that she didn't want it.
I won't boast but that isn't the best either.
