yorkshire building society regular saver

just want to check - have a YBS regular saver but would like to pull out max cash (have saved £500 a month since Feb 07). I can leave just £100 and reduce payment to £10 a month for now and review next anniversary is that right? I obviously don't want to lose any interest.
Many thanks

Can someone explain why there is a need to leave £100 in?

    Is it for carpetbagging?

It would be - otherwise the balance could be reduced to £10.

I did this online but beware - I wanted to withdraw £9000 and found I was limited to £5000 a day (even though I'm sure I read somewhere the limit is £10000). I thought no problem I'll spread it over 2 days. After first day I then realised it's actually going to be treated as 2 withdrawals even though to my mind it was only 1. If you make more than 1 withdrawal in the account year you lose the bonus interest (which I don't want to) so now the other £4000 is stuck there for another 6 months yet!

Are we sure about this limit? I took out over £5K online in May this year.

I was transferring to an external account when the £5k limit was imposed. I didn't have any other YBS accounts to use instead.
  • I withdrew over £5000 from YBS regular saver to my current account by online transfer at the start of August so if there is a limit it must be very recent.

Yes, have checked there is a limit of £5000 for the first thirty days after you set up a transfer account. So best to get any account that you might want to transfer into in the future set up now.
