Are you sure you have a Shuffle?

I'm reasonably certain the biggest Shuffle is only 2 GB, not 8.

Thats correct the shuffle only has max 2gb. You sure you have not got a Nano?

Also from the links you will need to look at the appropriate cables required to hook up to the stereo.

  • thanks for the replys so far,my shuffle is 8gb,it was off ebay so id guess it aint apple, although it looks identical,
Thanks for the links millionaire,i was wondering what the sound quality is like through my hifi via the dock in the link, has anybody tried linking via a dock as in the link and into their home hifi aux sockets(the red and white female ports)

Ah, I see. Well an iPod Nano is probably the best way to go then unless you want lots of storage in which case you should stretch your budget a little further and go for an 80GB iPod Classic.

The sound from the dock is fine, though obviously that will mostly depend on your hifi.

Just make sure you get an official Apple iPod this time!
  • thanks guys,i bought a cable a couple of weeks ago much like the ones in your links,it plugged into the headphone socket of my ipod and then into the white and red aux sockets on the rear of my sony hifi, the sound quality was very poor,i returned them to the pc shop who had advised me to use them who then informed me that i required an amp?does the docking station act as an amplifier or is it just a means of charging the ipod whilst it is in use?

The dock does not have an amplifier in it, but if your hifi makes a noise then it has an amplifier already.

The sound should be better plugging it into the dock as doing it that way would (AFAIK) bypass the iPod's headphone amplifier, and so you should then be passing a line-level signal to your hifi.

I would also assume that the sound from an official iPod would be better than the sound from a knock-off one anyway.
