student travel

hi guys, im new to these boards.
i was wondering if anyone knows where i can get discounted travel as i am starting collage next month.
any suggestians would be great

  • If you haven't already got one, then for £20 - or might be £25 now - get a 16-25 railcard which will give you 1/3 off train fares for a year. But be warned - not before 9am! very annoying as getting to college can be pricey.

    Buses depend on your local area. Where I came from (essex/suffolk) there were no student discounts, but here in Brighton you can buy monthly / quarterly / annual bus passes at a reduced cost if you show your NUS card.

    the young persons rail card is £12 for the month of August! so be quick

    also, the natwest student account gives out the young persons rail card (student card for over 26) for 5 years for free.
    Light bulb moment April 07: [strike]£3,655 [/strike] Oct 07: [strike]£2,220[/strike] now 0 - 3 years of Uni debt to be added at a later date :o:D
    now at Uni as a Mature student -update: now has a First Class BA!

    he's not a university student, so wont qualify for the student account from NW

    Is it really? :eek: I asked about the young persons railcard today and he said it would cost £24, mentioned nothing about it being £12!! :eek:

    That is sooo PANTS!!!! I'm a mature student so I need to get my form stamped by Uni after enrolement in September!! Fed up with missing out this discount every flipping year!
