LLoyd travel insurance - over 60 - prostate cancer

Ive been talking to a friend of mine this weekend who tells me she and her husband are going to visit her son in the USA this October. Her husband has just been diagnosed with prostate cancer and will be reciving treatment for it when they return from their visit. I have to say i was a bit suprised when i asked her if her travel insurance had gone up because of it, and she told me "I have'nt told them". She's only got the basic lloyds bank travel insurance that you get free with your account, do you think this is enough for a trip to the U.S bearing in mind that they are both over 60?
My mind tends to wander............If found please return;)

I can spell...................I just cant type:confused:

in a nutshell if your friends husband falls ill on holiday ,regardless of whether it has anything to do with the prostrate cancer or not means that in all likelihood they wont be paid out from their current insurance.
the ramifications of not being covered could ultimately lead to them losing all their savings and possibly the house.
it really is that serious and i can confirm that Lloyds would request a copy of his medical history from his GP
  • Thats what i thought,
Insurance company's will try anything not to pay out, as we hear all to often in the media. I just thought it would be a bit fool-hardy to go out there and not be properly covered. I also dont think that lloyds travel insurance has a big enough cover on it for a trip to the U.S.
We have the same cover (lloyds) but we also have another annual insurance that gives us more cover.
Do you think i should mention it again to her or just leave it as it is?

  • Please stop them. The insurance will not pay out if they do not declare this and it could end up costing them a fortune.

They can get cover for this, and it will cost them a lot more, but it will pay out if they have a claim.

    Good luck,

    Paulina.
  • i have asked people in sort of similar circumstances ....
"why don't you tell the insurance company about the condition" ?
9 times out of 10 they reply that they are afraid the insurance company will no longer cover them.
i'm sorry it's glaringly obvious by this kind of admission that they can't expect the insurance company to pay out if they become ill.
    i sometimes think that
    1. people don't think that the insurance company will want to see their medical records in the event of a medical claim
2.people imagine if the illness they suffer on holiday isn't connected to the pre-condition they'll be alright when they claim.....see #1 above.
  • LTSB covers people up to 80 years of age.

In all probability they will get cover from the bank BUT THEY MUST INFORM THEM OF THE ILLNESS AND PAY AN ADDITIONAL PREMIUM.
Going abroad especially to somewhere as expensive as America is absolute madness.
