Cannot install/run game after new install of Windows XP

Very sad I know, but I love the game Rahjonng (similar to Mahjonng pairs). I used to play it on my old pc with no problem, but decided I wanted it on this pc after having recently reinstalled Windows XP and AVG, but when I install the game I get the following threats found:

C:\WINDOWS\tsad.dll
C:\System Volume Information\_restore{8289A8E2-5A97=4C52-B8A9-D11C604DD9DE}\RP75\A0007944.dll

AVG lists both of these as Adware Generic BX2. Whatever they are.

If I tell AVG to ignore these, when I try to run the game, I get the following: Runtime error '48'
File not found: Addon2VB.DLL

Can anyone give me advice as to how I can play this on my younger pc (I no longer have the space to have 2 pcs set up) as I am really addicted to this game

You could try doing a search on the older PC for that file and copy it over to the new one.Maynot work but worth a try.

Looks like spyware to me.

Maybe you can look for a 'clean' version.

Make a copy of it and place it elsewhere in case it is a necessary file(I don't think it is) and then have AVG do away with them.

You can always replace it if necessary.

I am trying to install the game from the disc I bought some years ago. I have also bought a brand new version of the game and am having the same problems (very frustrating) Grrrr

I thought I would have a "clean" version with the brand new version I have just bought. And I have already tried this - it won't run at all! ditto Grrrrr!

Many thanks for your suggestions though - Any more gratefully received, though it looks more and more that I will end up trying to set up my old pc just to play this game, or do without. Very sad....

I wouldnt swear to this but I believe they are back up files with viruses in. Uninstall and try another version as the one you have certainly doesnt seem 'legit' to me

I have two cds of this game, both bought new and sealed, one from a few years ago, and one bought last week as I hoped that the newer version would not have the install problem - I was wrong.

Donnie - thank you for the link, I will try it out later today. I have emailed eGames who sell the game, and am waiting their reply, if they do that is. I'm not holding out much hope that they will reply, but I can't be the only one to have this problem with this game.

Im not entirely convinced its the game. I believe you may have a virus lurking somewhere!

Have you deleted the errant files(keeping a copy of C:\WINDOWS\tsad.dll in a safe place)?

Make sure that you get rid of the copy in System Restore.
