Best driving experience buy?

  • You could try ebay.co.uk or drivingexperiences.com (they have 3-4 different providers and search for the best driving experience you want if you contact them)

Some of it is pot luck but you can go along to track day events as a spectator and purchase slots that have been cancelled for a reduced fee. My husband had a Ferrari experience last year at Donnington Park and there was quite a lot of availability, going to Prestwold Hall in a few weeks for him to do the F1 experience so will see if the same applies there.

I'm wary of these experience days since someone I know went on one and found the car was limited!! It was a Lamborghini and the engines apparently cost 10s of thousands of pounds to replace so they limit the revs on experience days!!
The friend is a Toyota Supra owner so is used to performance cars, he was expecting going from his 450BHP into 600odd BHP would be a thrill, but found it to be less thrilling than his own daily driver.

I'd be really miffed if I wanted to experience a super car but only got allowed half of the engine, so check that there are no limits to how you can drive it.
    Trev. Having an out-of-money experience!
C'MON! Let's get this debt sorted!!
  • I looked at drift limits on ebay for my partner and I they look like the real deal and relatively cheap.

yip, about the only one that gives you a full all day experiance is the Palmer Sport day at Bedford... in a range of cars, but it is VERY expensive (£700+)

as an alternative.. have a look at hiring a caterham from Book a Track - might be worth talking to Jon there about a group booking in one of their caterhams.
That way you'd get a full day of driving at a circuit - with instruction in one of their cars

^^^^^ This - Experience days are rubbish.

I've done a few in my youth but now run my own trackday car and the difference between a trackday and an experience day is vast. If there are 4 of you I'd investigate hiring a trackday car and using on a local trackday, you'll have soooo much more fun than an experience day. Instruction on any trackday can be had for around £20, so it's not expensive and I have no doubt that with 4 of you it will work out cheaper.

As stated above BaT rent out Caterhams, although that can be quite expensive as they're top quality cars. There are others available - Javelin Trackdays have a fleet of MX5's that can be rented for £380 for a full day 9am to 5pm, plus the cost of the trackday, say £150, total cost per person of £130, bargain. Focussed Events have a Tiger you can hire (similar to a Caterham). Or try these guys http://www.kierenclark.com/images/news/mx5trackday.pdf
