we need to know how your connected....via router? straight to the modem? wireless?
is it cable?? or ADSL?
if its straight to the modem what you need to do is restart the modem first then plug in the laptopIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -
it is cable. although i have got a wireless router been in box for 2 yrs havent got a clue how to set it up lol0

so i'm guessing your connecting directly to the modem then
all you need to do is unplug the computer from it.....pull out the power cable out the back of the modem.....plug it back in again......then plug in your laptop.....give it a minute or two to do its stuff and it will connect
if you want to plug your pc back in again just do the same thing....
your router is just as easy but you will need to have a little help making it secure from other people picking up your wireless signal
big thing to remember with your modem 9 times out of 10 to resolve the problem just plug out wait 10 secs plug back itIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly

the problem with virgin modems is that they don't reissue a ip address....the only time it issues one is when you restart the modem...ie unplug it and plug it back in again
you don't need to sign in etc because the MAC address in a virgin modem is what signs you on as that modem is yours.....you couldn't plug in another modem (though might be able to if you could clone the MAC address off the virgin one)If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
