Experiences with Tesco Car Insurance

My car insurance is due for renewal, and I have done the necessary comparing of quotes, and the best quote came from Tesco (by including the £40 off shopping or fuel offer). However, in the back of my mind I think I remember reading somewhere that people were not satisfied with the service received when trying to claim from Tesco. I would love to hear from anyone who has had experience of claiming from Tesco before I accept their quote. Thanks.

I haven't dealt with Tesco claims but search google and http://www.dooyoo.co.uk/motor-insurance/tesco-car-insurance/reviews/
these websites show some reviews etc. Only thing I do know is that be carefull..Tesco have 2 policies, one is Tesco Value..min xs £450 and repairs only guarenteed 1 yr, no loss of keys covered, foreign use 3 days max,no court car or transport after a/c...if using comp cover. If standard tesco policy same cover aparet from repairs guarenteed little longer but be careful no voluntry xs as not the total you pay!!!0 -
Thanks so much sjane2008, that was great advice. I have been to the dooyoo site and read the reviews of Tesco car insurance, and will definately NOT be using them. You saved me from making a huge mistake, thanks again.0

Re the recent £40 voucher offer, has anyone who signed up to this received their vouchers?
I bought my car insurance 6 weeks ago and have still not received mine.0 -
FYI I am copying from my earlier posting:
I had a really bad experience with Tesco insurance: approved repairer in another town, hire car (incl in insurance) in a town further still from home (I was picked up and driven there, but unexpected and time consuming), waited longer than 2 weeks for repair (hire car for only 2 weeks), lies about difficulties with getting parts (Toyota said parts arrive in max 3 days when ordered), Tesco telling me I would have been better off having a British car for that purpose (!), and after all that ended up with a poor quality repair, and according to Toyota, had lost my warranty.0 -
I've never had a problem on the two claims I made with then in the last 5 years. The only thing that really annoys me is their renewals are £70-£80 above what they should be.
I've been on Tesco Compare and Go Compare and I can get a quote for a lot less. When I rang up to cancel last year, I was going to move to Prudential, they offered me the same premium as the guy at the call centre said the were underwritten by Prudential. I stayed with them due to the hassle of changing. Prudential have come up £80 lower this year as well.
The renewal letter from Tesco states " we have taken into account your clubcard details to ensure we have given you our best price for your car insurance" hmmmmm... We'll see!0
