I bought a 19" Acoustic Solutions Digital Tv from Argos. Just for the kitchen, but the sound and picture just goes off. I used the existing ariel that i had pluged into the old Annalogue tv there. Do i need a "digital Ariel" or is the tv just faulty ? It goes fine for a while and then the pixels all go and so does the sound ?????????????

Has the TV got a diagnostic setting which shows the signal strength/quality?
I would say you need a new aerial for it, or an amplifier for the existing aerial. Check the signal strength/quality and see how good it is. However, that said, even a new aerial may not help, it didn't for the LG LCD TV.
When the signal strength/quality is low it will drop the picture and sound, it's not a fault on the TV. Mine drops everything when a car travels up the road outside my house... on all of the freeview boxes and TVs, not just one and they can't all be faulty (I know they aren't, they are proved working).Rich0 -
If its 'fine for a while' then it points to SOMETHING thats faulty somewhere
Try plugging into another aerial (neighbours?) and see if it has the same effect. If so then its a fulty tv, if not then its obviously somewhere in the aerial and leads (Unless you have something else connected to it somehow?)
Can you describe a little better in what happens? 'pixels all go' is hard for me to suss out whats actually happening:idea:0 -
What sort or aerial is it? if it's just a small one that sits on top of the telly, it's probably going to struggle. Ideally for Freeview it needs to be connected to a roof or loft aerial.0

All the squares sort of break up. there is abox on the bottom right of the screen and when you change channels it gives you the signal strength which is about half way across the line _ 50%
The Ariel i have plugs into the back of the tv and then into an ariel socket in the wall.a round hole at both ends....lol
we have a plasma in the front room but we watch it through Sky - if that makes sense......0 -
There is no such thing as a " digital aerial ", it sounds very much like your existing aerial is not strong enough to work properly with your new Digital TV.
Digital TV needs a very good quality aerial in some areas of the country.
Have you tuned in the analogue channels? ( that is assuming it has an analogue tuner as well as digital ).
Also some Digital Tuners are better than others at pulling in weak signals.
Try plugging it in to a neighbours / friends aerial, see if it works with theirs.;)
If it doesn't, take it back.0 -

Plug the aerial (if possible) into the plasma and try to watch freeview through it (I assume it has inbuilt freeview?)
If thats fine then the tvs either at fault or (as the other guys just said) simply not upto the job of processing a weak signal:idea:0 -

hmmmm
Well you will be watching sky through a scart or a hdmi so that will be completely untouched (So long as you plug the leads back the same places they came from)
If your unwilling to though then youd better go pop round your neghbours with your tv:idea:0 -

Well sorry, if you are not prepared to follow good advice, then I'm sorry you will never find out if it is your TV or the aerial.;)
You cannot lose your Sky picture, it is a different feed to your TV.0
