Loads of subsidised kids activities available at council-run childrens' centres. We've got quite a few in our borough (Kingston) but I believe they're nationwide.

Most activities are £1.50 per family.

I've discovered that Lancaster City Council will provide you with a free composter. However, in Colchester, you have to pay albeit at a discounted rate.

Under "Sink Your Waste" Herefordshire residents, and those in Worcestershire too, can buy a food waste disposer from wherever they choose. Then, after having it fitted, a cashback cheque for £20, £50 or £80 will be returned depending on the amount spent, by filling in a simple claim form and sending it in with relevant receipts.

BIRMINGHAM CITY COUNCIL

Do - free rat poisoning, cockroaches, bedbugs, bulky item collections for some stuff, free internet access at libraries. Will give advice to private landlords and their tenants and give advice about drains on non Council houses.
