Claiming JSA before Uni

Hi,

I have been claiming JSA for 13 weeks now but not been able to find any kind of work within my area of experience.

I am due to attend my 13 week interview today to go in and proove I have been looking for a job, which shouldnt be a problem.

However since last week I have arranged a place on a nursing course at University which will start at the end of September and am wondering should I tell them this.

Can I still claim JSA between now and starting university as long as I am still looking for temporary work in the meantime, or does the fact I am starting a full time course in several weeks preclude me from being able to claim JSA?

You should be fine. As you stated, you are looking for temporary employment until your course starts. As long as you prove you are looking for work, you are following the requirements for claiming JSA.

The only thing I can think of that they may ask you to do is broaden the type of employment you would consider doing.
