It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.

Well I have managed to get my first day over. About 150 emails to sort through and apparantly I have to apply for the position that I have been offered and go throught the horror of interview again and the possibility that someone better comes along and snatches it from me:mad:

On a postive note I now feel completely better and have just eaten half a tub of hoummous and am on the prowl for chucklit:D
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.

Get a copy of the job decription, person spec and look through all the essentials and desriables.
Think of a way you can explain how you have managed in situations and subjects that are stated in the job/person spec.
Lots of examples of how you have handled similar roles, projects will stand you in good stead!

  • Afternooooooooon everyone :) Quiet chat today, have you all got jobs and lives or summat?

Luc - I'm going to disagree with Gemmzie (sorry Gem! :o) and say yes, get a cat now before the baby comes! Here's why:
    - it gives the cat a good few months to settle into your house, and get used to you and DH
    - ...but before they get too used to being top dog (boom tish) they quickly learn that they are second to your baby
    - some people think that by exposing young children to allergens you can prevent allergies from occuring - for example pregnant women used to be told not to eat peanuts - now this is only advised if there is already a history of allergies in the family, otherwise go ahead and you might protect the baby from developing one in the future. Sorry this is garbled! But you get the drift. (Maybe?!)
    - also cats tend to like pregnant women and they make very good lap warmers. Mine were so so affectionate when I was pregnant, though they've gone off me a bit now  fickle so-and-so's.

And the whole cat/baby thing - believe me that is an old wives' tale, cats are puzzled by newborns and certainly do not want to sleep on them! I bought a 'cat net' when pregnant and it is still in the flipping box. My mum said I would need to put it on the moses basket, on the pram, wherever the baby was because one of my cats would be waiting to pounce! Absurd, really absurd, the cat sees the baby as an alien being it doesn't understand, and not a nice warm place to sleep - they'll be as far away as they can get!
  • Right,
I'm going to throw my opinion here re. kittnes/babies etc.

    1. cats DO NOT smother kids-that is an old wives tale
    2. kids are more likely to have allergies if they are not subjected to things like cats etc. from an early age-and if you are BF Luc, they'll be strong healthy babies! (I think people are OTT with all this germs/allergies business half the time!!! Sorry if you disagree)
    3. I had 2 cats when we had the babies and bottom line is, if anything, the cats are the ones that get left out! And cats are fine with babies.
    4. Cats are dead easy to take care of and if you never let them on the counter tops etc they are fine in a kitchen (my 2 were v well behaved and NEVER went on the counter tops)-you will get cat hair, but then, that's what lint brushes are for and the love you get from them far outweights the hair issue.
5.dogs are MUCH harder work then even babies when they are puppies.

so, there you have it! My opinion, for what it's worth, lol
Empty pockets never held anyone back, only empty heads and empty hearts can do that -Peale
