hi,
i have norton 360 and tonight a message flashed up from the bar across the bottom of the screen saying a new updated version was available and do i want to install it before my subscription ends or do i want to stay as i am. well i installed it.
after it finished is when problems started. the system was running really slow and i had lost internet connection even though the double tv screen symbol was saying i was connected at the bottom. the diagnostic said i had two connections and that i should remove one. well i know that i dont have two connections. anyway as i had had the net connected to my xbox 360 earlier i thought i would turn everything off and disconnect and then reconnect the ethernet cable. at least for the moment that seems to have done the trick regarding having internet connection. however another odd thing has happened. in my hotmail address i had lots of delivery failure notifications. i also had a few automated emails from people i dont know saying they are currently out of the office until a certain date and please contact this other person via email.
i am a bit clueless but i am seriously worried at the moment that this update i installed wasnt genuine and i have been hit by some sort of virus. or at least that this new version has f***ed up my pc in some way.
please can anyone put my mind at rest of give me some advice?
ps there was a brief amount of time when installing the new version that i was not protected by a firewall because the windows firewall is usually turned off because norton 360 does that job. i did turn it on midway when i realised but could someone have got into my hotmail account during that time and that be an explaination for those odd emails?
