    Ah well.

    Mine valued at £810.
    I would've taken £600.
    They offered me 'only' £750.

    Woohoo.

I sold a car earlier this year. I wanted £500+, so started it at that.
    It went for £725 :D
I did have problems with the buyer, he hadn't seen it before he bought it, and his wife was really aggressive on the phone, she thought the car should be "perfect" -The passenger window was faulty, and the stereo was temperamental.
Fortunately the under bidder wrote a very supportive e-mail which I could wave at the buyer saying that the car (which he'd seen) was good for the price.
And people on this forum were helpful too.

I did give the buyer £20 off the price, which was what the under-bidder would have paid, (their time-wasting lost me that buyer) they didn't even give me feedback ;) .

The fees amounted to less than advertising in AutoTrader and it seems that mostly the deal is done and dusted very quickly, my experience was slow.

Car selling is the one place that e-bay allow you to refuse Paypal. They have to, if a buyer pays by Paypal, you won't be able to provide acceptable (to e-bay) proof of payment, the buyer can get all their money back if they are dishonestly inclined.

Take some good pictures - nice clean car with a nice green hedge as a backdop is good. Be as honest as possible on condition - forget all that "first to see wil buy" guff - no one likes that.

My first transaction on ebay was selling my car - wasted £££'s on auto trader first, only got canvassers calling.

Easy sale, winning bidder came to view day before auction ended, tried to get a sale there and then, I stuck to my guns and he went to my reserve in the end. Came back the next day with sealed bundles of £50 notes, fresh from the bank.

Just like selling a car elsewhere, keep you wits about you, don't accept a personal cheque, only cash or bankers draft, and if you can, take it to the bank and get it checked before you part company with the car.

I've also used Pistonheads.com, which is free, to sell cars in the past.

cars are exempt from the paypal requirement, so cash on collection is perfectly OK..and desirable.

You can host the photos on photobucket and just add them to the auction free of charge.
