Life insurance for my ex-husband?

Comments

  • Surely you're ex should consider his children and take out a life policy himself?
He has, but any money will be left in trust for them which they won't be able to touch until they reach an age of maturity.

Very common for you to put lif e cover in place for an ex-partner if children are involved.

I have arranged this before for many of my clients...
  • I am thinking of taking a policy out for my ex partner for exactly the same reasons (with his consent and signature of course).

Am I right in thinking that the policy will have to be written in trust stating me as the beneficiary?

I assume the safe option would be for me to pay the premiums too so that I can ensure it is always paid and not cancelled!

Not necessarily. You could be owner and he could be life assured. (or joint owner, single life) That would avoid the use of a trust. Although a trust would work as well.
