I am looking for a Ford Focus for my first car....It has been a choice between a focus, golf, clio and corsa..but I think I will go for the Focus...
I am looking for a 1.4...fairly new (maybe 02 plate) with low mileage...however, I am not sure about price? I went to a local Ford dealer..and after a lot of the old "ill have to ask my manager" talk he offered me a 1.4 CL with 9500miles on a 52 plate for £6750....My budget is around £5k so I am just wondering what I can expect for that price?
Also, does anyone thing a Focus is not the way to go?
Thanks in advance,

Focus - Which? Best Buy 2004. Which? used best buy up to £5,000 2004 (more details on www.honestjohn.co.uk)
You should be able to get a reasonably low mileage '51' plate 1.4 LX for under £5k - for example, the Fords of Winsford car supermarket has one, 26,830 miles, in black, for £4,799People are more important than things0 -

The insurance increase wasnt actually that much more for the 1.8 I actually traded in a 1.4 for my current one last year, so id look into it . Good luck with the search you cant go far wrong with the Focus (ive had three) though Id recommend looking at the Zetec if you can stretch to it, in my opinion the improvements and extras are more than worth it. One of the best cars ive had, superb chassis, I even prefer the ride to my partners 6 month old BMW.0 -
Could definitely recommmend the Focus, as I've just bought one, and it's great. Whilst alot of other similiar class cars are being slated by the media.
And as others say, you should be able to get a good one within your budget, just look around and remember the salesman wants you more than you want him, so you will always have the winning hand, just keep on him and you'll get the price you want.Celebrating 31 Years of Muppetry0 -

Have a good look round here!
1.4 is underpowered - I bought 1.6 - insurance group 5 which is very good. Don't buy a CL - the most basic of the lot - go for a Zetec or LX and you're likely to get a climate pack or other extras on it with a second hand car. Bought my 2000 X-reg Focus in Feb for £4900, and it's fab!

Although CLs can be cheap at auction and are sometimes found with climate packs fitted. CD, remote stereo controls and alloys can be retro-fitted via ebay.0
