Options
i have just downloaded open office, but cant figure out how to open the programmes.

after the download was complete a icon appeared on the screen, but when i click on it a list appears with a number of documents. How do i open the documents, its not like the microsoft programmes where you click on one icon and that programme opens up.

the main programme i want to use is the word document.

OK, I guiess you haven't got as far as installing it but have just double clicked on the file you downloaded. The documents you can see are actually the setup files. Use any of them to start the setup. After that, you'll have a menu entry for OpenOffice and they're in there.

Once you've set it up, is there a way to put the icon on the screen to open it up, instead of going through the menu each time?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
