Just recently (after getting my AS level results) I discovered on my results slips they all said on it "This document is not a certificate." Before I did not think much about it when I did GCSE, because I got my results slip, but now I am worried, do I need to claim my certificates or can I use my results slip for University or jobs etc.? I know you have to pay to claim them, and they are expensive, and as a student it may be a lot of money too.

hamzramz, if you have never collected your GCSE certificates, just contact the school where you took your exams - they should have your certificates. You shouldn't have to pay for them - just collect them from the Exams Officer at the school. The same will eventually apply to your AS certificates also, although they won't be available yet. HTH.[0

Yes providing your school hasn't destroyed them (mine gave us a year to collect them before they did this) because you didn't pick them up, then your school should have them. Everyone gets the certifcates for free its just if you ever need a replacement that there is a charge.0

I wouldn't worry about it too much, hopefully your school should still have them so just give them a call and see if they're still available for collection. I bought replacement A-Level certificates to take to uni with me as I was told I'd need them and mine had been lost in a house move, IIRC it cost me £35 per exam board (and the replacement certificates also say 'this is not a certificate' on them lol). I was never asked to show them and tbh it was a bit of a waste of money, although I suppose they're useful to have should I need to prove my qualifications. If you can't get hold of them, I'd wait until a) you've got some spare cash or b) you actually need to show them to anyone, rather than forking out speculatively. As long as you remember which boards they're with then it's really no hassle to get replacements at any time.0
