Which type of tile adhesive - slate tiles?

Hi,
Please can anyone tell me the best/correct type of tile adhesive to use?
It is for slate tiles on top of a newly laid cement floor. It's in a kitchen.
One tiler said I should use "flexible" tile adhesive - but I thought this was for use on wooden/hardboard floors which are likely to move.
Also would around 5mm thick of the adhesive be suitable? The tiles themselves are around 10mm thick.
Any advice greatly appreciated.
Many thanks in advance.

well slate is just layers of uneven rock so they all wont be 10mm thick, you'll have to sort into thickness piles and lay the thickest first.
you should be using a floor trowel 20mm thick for adhesive.
as for adhesive itself, get pci nano lite if you can get hold of it, it's the doggys do das
here's some notes i have on slate fixing
